STEP 2: Collection

  wastecollection

Collections of hazardous waste chemicals for disposal or recovery of precious metals are scheduled by the Traffic Desk where relevant client and collection information is available from our computer system.

  The lab

The collections are arranged following receipt of a collection request or at fixed intervals, the length of which can be agreed with the client. The Traffic Desk prepares all relevant paperwork for the collections, including the Collection List, Transfer Notes, Consignment Notes, Carrier Schedules, Tremcards and labels where required.

On arrival, the driver reports to the works manager. The driver will inspect the waste type to be collected against the paperwork issued by the Traffic Desk and ensure that the waste chemicals are packaged and labeled in accordance with the Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations.

wastecollection   Certain waste chemicals stored in tanks at the client's premises can be pumped into suitable transport containers (IBC's) on board of the vehicle using engine driven pumps. Drummed waste and IBC's are loaded onto the vehicle by forklift and where bulk collections are required, we use our road tankers.

Upon completion of the collection, the driver will report again to the works manager and complete the collection paperwork, leaving the client with the relevant copies.

The lab   Edelchemie's fleet of vehicles have all been customised for the collection of waste chemicals, are stringently maintained by external contractors and the fleet is liveried with corporate colours. Each collection vehicle is equipped with  a Spillage Limitation Kit and full Personal Protection Equipment. Company drivers are trained in operating procedures, HGV qualified and hold an ADR license authorising the transportation of dangerous goods.
